About Leader
Liz Powell has been practicing Vipassana meditation since 2004 and has a deep passion for sitting and teaching retreats. She graduated from the Retreat Dharma Teacher Training with Gil Fronsdal and Andrea Fella and completed Nature Dharma Training with Susie Harrington, Mark Coleman, and Gil Fronsdal. Liz also participated in the Dedicated Practitioners and Advanced Practitioner Programs at Spirit Rock.
Liz has extensive teaching experience, having co-led programs at the Insight Meditation Center (IMC) in Redwood City, California, for children, families, and parents, and offering meditation retreats for adults. She served as IMC’s Board President and Managing Director of the Insight Retreat Center. A Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and retired Marriage Family Therapist, Liz currently teaches online programs such as IMC’s Eightfold Path Program and Happy Hour Brahmavihara Practice, and offers in-person teachings at the Insight Retreat Center in Santa Cruz, California.
